I'm so glad I finally got the things I had been waiting for today....what a nice way to end the year!

I can't believe another year is gone! 2008 was a very rough year, to say the least. Mom had her surgery in May and battled so many ups and downs with it, only to lose the battle in October. Right around that time, Nibbles was conceived. I've decided to make a few resolutions for the new year:

- to continue doing well with this pregnancy and have a healthy baby sometime in June (is that even a resolution?!?)
- once Nibbles is born, I want to continue doing well with my health and lose weight....hopefully reversing my diabetes
- to be the very best mom and wife I can be
- to catch up on tyler's scrapbooks and start one for Nibbles
- to stay in touch with friends and family more
- to post more comments on friends blogs (I just wish more of my friends would start up a blog for me to stalk/comment on....*hint, hint*)

There are so many things I am looking forward to in 2009. Tyler will be turning 5 and starting Kindergarden, Nibbles will arrive sometime in June and family should be visiting around that time. I'm a little sad about Ty turning 5 and starting school, but at the same time I am so excited for him to start this new journey in his life! I can't wait for him to come home from school and tell me about all the new friends he has made and what he learned that day.....ok, who am I kidding....I can wait!!! LOL The joys of motherhood..........

I would like to take the time to thank everyone for all the love and support you have shown me throughout this difficult year. I look forward to sharing our family trials and adventures with all of you again in the new year.

Ever since getting the new computer I have been trying to re download AVG antivirus. I've been using avast, but I just prefer AVG over all antivirus programs. Well, since I have dial-up it is virtually impossible to download AVG because it says it takes over 8 hours to download!!! WTF?!?!? After i've been online for almost 4 hours PeoplePC kick me offline, so there is no way I can download AVG.........

Just another reason why I despise dial-up!!!!

The Incredibles dvd:

Ty's very own digital camera!:

Emptying his stocking:

Even Nibbles got a gift! A friend from Z's work gave Nibbles a cute little baby "smoothie": it has a hooded towel, washcloth and finger puppet all set up inside a cup to look like a smoothie:

We had a very nice Christmas! We did end up going to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg Christmas Eve and got our funnel cakes, but we ran into a HUGE thunderstorm while in Gatlinburg!! The lightning was so creepy while on the mountain.....and it rained so hard it started to flood!! I did get to talk to family yesterday. My oldest sister and her family went to my dad's for Christmas, as did one of my other sisters and her family. Plus, my mom's brother (who is also battling cancer) was there. I had originally called to wish my dad a merry Christmas and he had told my oldest sister was there and everyone else was on the way, then he got a little choked up and said "I really wish you could be here, but of course I understand." We talked for a minute or too longer and he sounded so sad. :( My sister Dee got on the phone and we talked a little. I asked how dad was doing and she said he was holding up good, but had mentioned to her he really wished Tyler, Zane and I could be there but said not to say anything to anyone. I knew this holiday would be a little rough since it's only been 2 months since mom has been gone, but it really hit after I talked with my family.

It's Christmas Eve!!!

I'll probably be scarse for the next day or so, but I wanted to take a minute and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!!!! I'll be sure to post pics from tomorrow....and from tonight!! Zane said last night he was taking us to see the lights in Pigeon Forge still!

Only 3 more days!!

WOW, is it really only three days until Christmas?!?!? I can't believe how fast it has come this year. I can't wait to see his face when he see's what Santa and everyone got him. Especially the one thing he has been asking for for almost 3 months now.....Tumbles!!! I was so set on not getting it for him, mainly becasue when I saw it in the store it looked so cheaply made and just plain hard. But after reading online about him and the reviews, I figured it would be worth it. This weekend we got a few more stocking stuffers for him, so he is officially done. We got our packages mailed out last week, so everyone should be getting them either today or tomorrow.

I'm still a little bummed that our company isn't coming this week. I was really looking forward to having family close, since this is the first Christmas since mom passed. I've been thinking about her so much lately. Plus, I think we're going to cancel our family tradition of going to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg this year. :( But, i'm sure we'll still have a great Christmas together. Tyler is just SO excited about Christmas morning!!! I'll be sure to get tons of pics and post them here. :)

I really wish you could smell......

.......the house right now!! I just finished baking some Peanut Butter Blossom cookies, and the whole house smells SO yummy!!! I cheated and got a huge box from Sam's Club that came with three peanut butter cookie packets and a big bag of Hershey Kisses. All you have to add to the cookie mix is 1 tbs. water, 1/4 cup oil and 1 egg. How easy is that?!? And they taste soooo good. I wanted to make a batch to make sure they tasted ok before I sent them out for, I kept looking at that box and craving a peanut butter cookie!! LOL Here is how they turned out:

One of the "perks" of living in the country

Let me start off by saying I LOVE where we live. I love living so far out, and not having neighbors all around us and up our butts. One of the downsides, especially when it's cold.....mice. I found some "presents" of all places, upstairs. Why in the world a mouse would want to be up there I have no idea. Granted the bathroom is up there, but there's no food. Hmmm, maybe that's why it made it's way down into the kitchen?!?!? Yesterday I went to get my handmixer out of the drawer and found a nice little "present", along with huge holes chewed into my bag of chocolate chips. Also, the past few nights i've noticed our cat MeeMee sitting and staring at the drawers and cabinets in the kitchen. Last night I made sure the sticky traps were set up in one of the drawers so I could catch this little "present giver". Well, this afternoon I was in the kitchen making lunch when I thought I had heard a scratching noise, followed by a squeek.......I thought maybe it was Tyler in the other room so I just shrugged it off. A minute or so later I heard it again and instantly thought "We caught the little booger!!" I opened the drawer with the traps and there it's whole body stuck to the trap, trying to get away! I grabbed a grocery bag and a set of tongs (I can only image what I looked like, a grocery bag in one hand and a set of tongs in the other) and picked up the trap to put into the bag. Before I put it in the bag I told him; 'See, if you would have just kept your presents to yourself and NOT eaten my chocolate chips it wouldn't have ended like this!" I mean, didn't he know your not supposed to eat someone's chocolate chips, let alone a pregnant womans chips, right before Christmas?!?!? I quickly disposed of him and made sure I double checked the drawer to make sure the other traps are still good....i'm sure he has friends that would just love to share all their "presents" with me. They had better leave my damn chocolate chips alone!!!!

I would so love to meet

The person who invented the crockpot and give them a HUGE hug and kiss!!! I put a roast in there and it is smelling heavenly. I've used my crockpot so many times before, but since i'm still feeling run down and tired, I love and appreicate it even more! I did run out of those crockpot bags, so i'm going to have to actually put it in the dishwasher tonight....BOO!!! Ok, how spoiled am I?!?!?!? LOL

Hmmm, cooking in the crockpot did free up the oven for me.......maybe some early cookie baking is in order now?!?

*cough, cough* BLAH!!!

Ok, enough with this cough!!!! I swear, sometimes when I cough I feel like my eyeballs are going to come popping out of my head and one of my lungs will be coming up. Tyler was kind enough to share his cold with us, and boy is it kicking my butt!! Zane missed work yesterday because he has it too. I had an appointment for the NT test at the high risk ob office, but we had to cancel it yesterday morning. I felt so bad cancelling the same day as the appointment, but they were very understanding. We got the test rescheduled for next Wednesday at 2pm. I know for a fact they would have had a hard time doing any kind of test on me with the way i've been coughing! Everytime I get any kind of cough it ends up like this, and I hate it with a passion!! I can never just have a normal cough.....*sigh* And being pregnant, there really isn't much I can take, but that's fine I guess. Cough syrups never work for my coughs anyway! LOL

So the other night we picked up a few things for ty for Christmas. From Z's parents we got Ty another Leapfrog Tag book and a carry case for the Tag system. It also holds several books, which is nice. We were looking at that Swim to Me Puppy and that thing is HUGE!!! There is no way it would fit in his kiddy pool or our bathtub....and we have a pretty big bathtub! LOL Plus, it was $30 and I just couldn't see getting it. They did have the dog Biscuit on display and when he was messing with it he said "mom, this dog is creepy!" I told him, "Now see, aren't you glad you didn't ask Santa for that dog?!?" He said "Oh yeah!! I'll take Tumbles instead!" I got Tumbles yesterday in the mail for him and it's already wrapped and put away!! I can't wait for him to open that gift! I talked with my oldest sister Dee and she said they mailed Ty's Christmas package on Tuesday, plus he is expecting a package from his Aunt Pam (Z's sister) and Z's parents sent out something else for him yesterday. He also already got something from his Uncle Dave (Z's brother) that is already put away. In fact, anytime we get packages in the mail now we just tell him they're for daddy's work. So far he buys that!! ROFL!!! There has been a time or two when he opened up something that was for Christmas by mistake, but I would much rather have him wait for Christmas morning to open things. :) We're going to hit a store or two early Saturday morning to get a few more things to send out, then hopefully get our packages out right away that we need to send! It's really hard to believe Christmas is only 2 weeks from today!! mmmm, and less than two weeks for going to Pigeon Forge and getting a funnel cake. Ugh, I am so worried about all the goodies this time of year....especially being pregnant!! Not only do we do funnel cake on Christmas Eve, but Christmas morning we make cinnamon i'll be doing tons of baking soon!! I guess I need to make sure i've got plenty of insulin!!! LOL

Well, another coughing attack is starting so I guess that's my cue to get off of here. Hope everyone is having a good week so far!!!!!

16 days til Christmas!!!

Is anyone else counting the days like we are?!?!? I SO can't wait for Christmas morning!! Ok, who am I kidding....I can't wait for Christmas Eve when we go to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg to see the lights and get a funnel cake!!!! We did find out yesterday that our company isn't coming down. :( But, we will still have a great time!!!

We've been done with shopping for Ty for awhile now, but I think tonight we are going back out to get a few more things. We finally got our reimbursement checks from our health insurance company for the prescriptions we had filled yesterday, so we have a few extra bucks to play with. Plus, Tylers granny and grandpa sent us money to get something for Tyler, so we'll get that tonight as well. (of course, he won't see anything we get him until Christmas!! hehehe) We were going to get that Furreal friends Tumbles dog for Ty from Z's parents, but I found it online for only $19 yesterday so I went ahead and ordered it from us. It's the only thing he has bugged us for since he first saw the commercial months ago!!! We weren't going to get it, mainly because it was $40 and just didn't seem to be worth the money, but for the price we paid and the reviews I had read online, I figured we would go ahead and get it for him. He's also been asking for that dog Swim to Me Puppy, but I have no idea how he will use this thing!!! He only has a small kiddy pool and I told him that, but he says "But mom, it also walks you know!" I think we'll price it tonight and if it's not too bad we'll get it for him from Z's parents. So far, everything he's said he would like he's gotten!! Well, except for that other Furreal friend dog Biscuit.....I told him no way on that!!!!! I think he was just being silly when he said he wanted it, but I told him he has two real dogs at home and doesn't need a $200 dog!! For that kind of money, that dog better clean up after our dogs, AND clean my house!!! LOL

An interesting weekend

So last week, Tyler spent a day laying in the recliner with a fever. It would go away with Children's Tylenol, but would come back. Well, by the end of the night it was finally gone and when he woke up the next morning he seemed ok, just a little "off". His appetite hasn't been the same.....he keeps picking at things and only eating super small amounts, which is SO not like him. Well, by Friday evening he had developed a small big deal. Sunday morning at 3:30 am Zane and I both woke up to Tyler coughing so bad, it sounded like a bark. He was standing up saying he felt yucky and wanted to get in our bed. We let him get into bed, but before I layed back down I gave him some more Cold and cough medicine. He slept the rest of the night/morning and but when he woke up his cough still sounded awful. He was so deep and sounded just like a barking sound. Thankfully he still didn't have a fever. Well, we fixed breakfast and all he asked for was a piece of toast, which is definitely not like him. Zane cooked some bacon, and that is Ty's favorite weekend breakfast treat. I made him some toast, and after he would take a bite he would lay his little head back on the table. He only ate three bites and said he was full. I asked him if he wanted to go lay in the living room and watch some cartoons and he said yes, so I went in and got him settled on the sofa......he looked so sad and pitiful. :( While I was getting him settled, Zane had called our doctors office to get the opinion on what we should do. After awhile, the nurse called us back from UT hospital and got more info from us. She asked if she could hear Tyler breath on the phone so Zane held the phone up and asked him to breath in. He sounded to rattly and horrible. She said because of the way he sounded and the fact that he isn't eating much that we should take him to the ER at either UT or Children's Hospital. We chose Children's Hospital, so yesterday afternoon we headed out. they checked us in super quick and got us in the back pretty quick as well. The nurse that came in the room first was so sweet, and just loved Tyler!! She complemented him on his good manners and said they don't see that hardly ever anymore, which made me feel good. :) She also told him he could have a popsicle once the doctor was done, and he was super excited about that! Once the doctor came in and asked him what was going on and listened to him cough and his chest he said Tyler had Croup. :( He said it should really clear itself up, but wanted to give him a dose of a liquid steroid to help it along, and that if he isn't feeling better by Tuesday to take him to see his regular doctor. After we left, he got his popsicle and was a happy camper! That medicine they gave him really made a huge difference right away. His cough is still there, but no more barking sound!!! He's still not eating too much, but is drinking good so we're not too worried right now. He's back to playing today, but only for a little at a time. My poor little pickle....he's hardly ever sick, but boy did he get it this time!!! :(

Our tree

We finally got our tree up this past weekend!!! Tyler was such a great helper with decorating the tree. In fact, he hung up almost all of the ornaments! He was so proud of himself. :)

Zane got to digging around upstairs and found his train he had, so we put that under our tree and Tyler LOVED it!!!!! We had so much fun putting the tree up. :)

So, on Friday we decided to venture out.....not early, though!! LOL We went to Walmart around 9am and still found lots of great deals!! We got Tyler a Spiderman 3 piece pj's set that came with a light up robe for only $10, and we found him Spiderman slippers that were only $4!!! We also found him a HUGE crayola coloring book with the characters from the movie Cars for only $4. They had so many things left for decent prices....I was really shocked! Most of the crazy people were gone as well, so that was a plus. There were still a few asshats out there, but for the most part it was nice.

The last four days were actually nice. Zane was off for those days, and I honestly thought it was going to be a nightmare!!! I love him, but after a day or so together i'm ready for him to go back to work! LOL He actually did alot of things around the house, and even cooked most of the meals for us!! I think by yesterday afternoon he was ready to go back to work, though.......he was starting to get grumpy and pissy, so i'm glad he went back to work today!! LOL

Well, I think I need to put laundry away before I tackle the bathroom. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!!!!!!

It's really hard to believe that tomorrow is already Thanksgiving. This year has just flown by! It has been such a rough year for my family. Losing mom has got to be one of the hardest things I have ever had to deal with. I always felt she would be there anytime I needed her. Moving on without her has been such a huge adjustment. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her, but I know she is there looking over all of us. I think that is what has helped the most with moving on. I still have my moments, of course, but for the most part I am doing ok! I also think what has helped me deal with losing mom is getting pregnant in September. I feel great comfort in knowing that mom is getting to hold our new little one before we get to meet them. So with that, I want to post what I am thankful for this year:

- I am thankful that Zane found a great job and is finally getting paid the way he deserves to be paid.
- I am thankful that Tyler is growing up to be such an amazingly smart and wonderful boy/young man. Every day he does something that just blows me away.
- I am thankful for the doctors and nurses that took such great care of mom while she was in the hospital. Quite a few of the nurses loved my mom so much and were so amazing with her.
- I am thankful for the newest member of our family in my belly. I know I am truly blessed to gave you growing in there little one. Mommy, daddy and big brother Tyler love you so much already!
- I am thankful for the doctors and nurses that are taking such great care of myself and Lil' Nibbles. They have been so amazing and supportive.
- I am thankful that I have a supportive and loving husband. At times he drives me insane and he is far from perfect, but he is perfect for me and I am still amazed at how much he really does love me.
- I am thankful for my family being so supportive this year and really being there for me.
- I am thankful for my friends, new and old, and how much support they offered when it was needed. I honestly don't know what I would do without them in my life.

I know there are tons more, but Ty is ready for lunch and to be honest, so am I! LOL I don't know if i'll be on much for the next 4 days, since Zane is off and we'll be getting our Christmas stuff out and up!!!!! I want to wish everyone a very HAPPY and SAFE Thanksgiving!!!

Monday, November 24, 2008

Thanksgiving is this week!!

mmmm, I can almost taste the pumpkin pie.........ok, how sad is it that I am looking forward to the pie more than the actual dinner?!?!? LOL

I've been thinking so much about this holiday coming up and I really wish we were closer to family, or had family coming here to visit. But, we will still have a great holiday ourselves!! We are going to get our Christmas stuff out this Friday, including the stuff for outside! I SO can't wait for that......turning the Sirius Christmas channel on, putting the tree up and having Tyler help decorate it, seeing Tyler helping daddy put the outdoor decorations up............I love making holiday traditions with my own family!!!

Monday, November 17, 2008

It's so cold outside today! And tomorrow is supposed to be colder!!! Did January sneak up on me or what?!?!? I know I shouldn't complain, since it of course could be least there is no snow.

I still can't believe Thanksgiving is next week. I think we're going to get our turkey this coming weekend......yum!!!! I also think i'm going to attempt to make a pumpkin pie. We bought that Libby pumpkin pie can stuff where you just add eggs and milk, and I already have a pie crust in the freezer from when I made an apple pie last month so we'll see how it goes. All I can say is, i'm glad I have extra insulin!!! LOL

Last week we decided to get the layaway out from K-mart while we had a little extra money. I'm glad we did, since they seemed to change their policy on us. They told us we had until the 19th of December to pay it off, and if something went on sale while it was on layaway we would get the difference. (I was there when the guy running the layaway told Zane that) Well, two weeks ago they put their Cabbage Patch 25th anniversary dolls on sale for $10 less than what we paid, so we went up to Kmart to make a payment and get the price adjusted. Well, we went back to the layaway with the sale paper and told them about the price difference on the doll and the lady said, very rudely "You only have 7 days for that!" Zane told her the guy who was there the day we did the layaway told us we had until it was paid off and picked up for the price adjustment and she said, once again rudely "Well, no one here would tell someone that, so I think you were mistaken." I spoke up and said "So, your calling my husband a liar?!? I was here with him when he was told that!" She said, "well I can't adjust anything, you'll have to take it up with customer service". All the while she was adding our payment to our account. She handed us a receipt and said "You have until Dec. 12th to pay it in full." And Zane said "I thought we had to the 19th?!?" She said they changed their policy, "blah, blah, blah...." as she was walking away. She was SO freakin' snarky about it! We went up to the customer service desk and promptly told them how the lady at layaway was. They said someone else had just been there to complain about her and that they would take care of the situation. (yeah, i'm sure...) Anyhoo, Zane also told them what he was told about the price adjustment and they said they normally don't do the adjustment after a few weeks, but they would take care of it for him, so they gave him a $10 kmart gift card. When we left I told him we needed to get that stuff out of there as soon as we could. I've always hated dealing with K-mart, but since they are the only place to do a layaway anymore, we were stuck. So, everything is here and already wrapped.....what a relief!!! We're going to pick up a few small things here and there for him, but over all we are done.

Before I go I want to share with you a picture of our latest visitor. Meet Sticky.....

I *think* he is a brown praying mantis. I told Tyler he looked like a stick and he said "Awww, hi Sticky!" We found him on Saturday evening and he is still hanging out on the porch!!!!!

Saturday night I got a call from my sister Dee. She asked how I was doing and wanted to congratulate us on being pregnant. She said her hubby had gone over to my dads earlier that day to help tear down the pool they had. (It kind of made me a little sad, since I had bought the pool when I was living at home for my mom, but I know it was time for the thing to come down) Anyhoo, she said my dad was talking to her hubby and said he was really thinking about driving down to visit us and bring us the car before Christmas, since the weather was nice and the gas prices were down. Well, her hubby came home and after thinking about it for a little while, he told my sister to call dad and tell him he would drive down with him!!!! SOOOOOO, yesterday afternoon my dad and my BIL got here and we now have a second vehicle!!!!!!! It feels so good to have that freedom back again, and to know i'm not stuck cooped up in this house. Plus, knowing that it was my mom's and she wanted me to have it means so much to me. In fact, when we were coming back from the DMV (which, by the way, was amazing!!!! They were so fast and friendly!) my dad said, "Just think of this car as a gift from mom." He then got choked up and didn't say anything else about it, but it really means the world to me that he/they wanted us to have it. I am so grateful to them both.

Mail for the last few days

Mail has really been lacking the past few days....I did get a really good surprise:

- a full size St. Ives moisturizing in-shower exfoliating body polish! (a text win)

also rec'd:

- folgers coffee/walmart
- recipe cards from Wisconsin butter (I think?)
- Bayer lancet

I was really shocked to get the St. Ives was supposed to be a sample!!!!

We found out :)

My sister Kathie and her husband are going to be here for Christmas!!!! But the best part of dad will be coming with them!!!!!!! He is going to give us the car that was my moms so we will have another vehicle, and was trying to figure out how to get it to us, and now he has a way!! I am so glad he said he would come down. :)

The main reason my sis is coming down is because her and her hubby went crazy, yet again, with buying stuff for Ty for Christmas!!! I told her not to, but she told me she was going to buy what they wanted anyway. But, they bought him some really big things that they can't mail so they are coming down. :) Tyler is super excited to see them again......and poppop!!! Now i'm ready to get our decorations down and get to decorating!!!!! LOL

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Only 2 more days until trick-or-treating!!!! Tyler is SO excited! He's going to be a sheriff this year. We hit DollarTree and picked up a cute cowboy type hat for him, and the grocery store had two plastic toy guns with the holster and a small badge for only $1!!! We found a super cool sheriff badge at walmart that he can wear on his shirt, and the small badge I attached to the front of his hat. He asked if he could have a fake mustache, like he wore when he was a construction worker, and I told him we would have to wait and see.

We're going to hit the mall again this year! I love trick-or-treating there. You won't get wet if the weather is yucky outside, you won't have to worry about cars and traffic, and you get to see so many cute kids dressed up!!! Plus, the big bonus of all is......we get to have chick-fil-a for dinner!!! YUM!!!!

I'll be sure to post pics this weekend.

Well, I want to try and get this blog back on track to where it was, so i'm going to go back to posting mail goodies again: (well, that is....when I get anything good!! LOL)

- $10 garb panel check for doing a product test
- Quaker Harvest Bar/walmart
- Free book from Imagination Library
- Carhartt hat
- heineken beer skimmer (it works great for putting icing on a cake!!)

- Becks bottle opener
- $3 Pinecone payment (paypal)

* all of that was for the month of October

Gearing up for the holidays

Zane and I had been talking about what "Santa" wanted to get Ty for Christmas. He's mentioned a few things here and there that i've tried to write down to get him, plus we already have a few things we bought for him. So, we decided instead of making more debt we would just do a lay-a-way at K-mart. At first I wasn't too keen on the idea, but the more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea!! I mean, honestly......why use credit cards and go into debt?!?!? We went yesterday afternoon after we left the doctors office and got Ty quite a few things he had mentioned he liked. We got:

- Cabbage Patch 25th anniversary boy doll. Tyler has been asking for a boy doll for SO long now!! We couldn't find many that were a boy AND were semi-cute. But, we found the cutest boy cabbage patch doll yesterday......he will love it!!!
- Elefun game. Everytime he see's the commercial he says he would love to play it!!!
- Lincoln Logs. Zane has been saying how much he loved them when he was a kid so he wanted to get them for Ty.
- Leapfrog Tag reading system, plus a Spongebob book to go with it. I just LOVE this thing!!! And Ty is really into trying to read words himself, this will be perfect for him!!! Plus, when he see's the commercial he asks me "mom, will that help me to read more words?"

I *think* that's it. Zane had the cart and was hiding stuff under our jackets in so Ty wouldn't see what we picked up! LOL There is one thing he keeps asking for, and has been for over a month now.......that Furreal Friends Tumbles beagle that rolls over. Ok, I *do* think it's cute, but for $40?!?!?!? The cuteness has faded!!! K-mart did have it on sale for $36.99, but I still can't bring myself to get it......i'm sure it will be one of those toys that he plays with for a short time, then ends up upstairs with all the other toys he doesn't mess with. *sigh* I'm torn on what to do about this Tumbles puppy........

Also, at home we still have for him:

-Chutes and Ladders Diego edition. (super cute with plastic play pieces instead of cardboard!)
- Polaroid kid camera
- Hungry Hungry Hippos (he has been asking for this game for over a month, too!!!!)
- The Incredibles dvd

There are a few small things we've picked up here and there for his stocking, and i'm sure we'll keep picking up little things here and there for him.....I love hitting the DollarTree and finding things in there for his stocking!!! We also decided to get him a regular big boy bike for his birthday in January.

Our first official appointment will be this Thursday, the 23rd. They said they would do an exam to check for the yolk sac. (yuck, sounds so gross!! LOL!) I'm also hoping they will be able to give us a better idea of how far along I am. :)

We're home

We made it back home Friday at 9:15pm. We would have been home sooner but we got stuck in stop and go traffic for over 45 minutes! Ugh, nothing like being on the road for 3-4 hours and then getting stuck in traffic......

Anyhoo, the viewing and funeral went fairly well as they are supposed to be, anyway. They did such an amazing job. Mom looked so peaceful. The casket my dad picked out was had embroidery inside that said "Mother". They also picked out beautiful flowers from the children and a set from the grandchildren. For the viewing they let immediate family back first; my dad, my sisters, brother and myself. That was tough. The last time I had seen mom she was sitting up in bed with her eyes open, trying to talk to me. We all supported each other, which helped so much. I know Zane means well with being there for me and supporting me, but it's nothing like having family around you at a time like this. It was also nice to see family I had not seen in over 20 years. Mom was born in Hagerstown, MD and there ended up being two vehicle loads of people from Hagerstown at the viewing. The hardest day was by far the funeral. We all were doing well until they started playing "Amazing Grace" over the speaker. Once they played that, I lost it. Honestly, everyone lost it. But the hardest part of all was after everyone had left, we all had our turn at saying goodbye. We went in turn up to the being the youngest I was the last of the children to say goodbye to her. I placed a few pictures of Tyler in with her, along with a little note I wrote to her....then I kissed her and told her I loved her. All of the children walked away from the casket so my dad could go up, and that broke all of our hearts. He kneeled on the bench they had in front and just sobed. It was only for a few seconds, but that is something that I will never in my life forget.

After the funeral, a small group came back to dad's for a little get together that was really nice. At the end of the night, dad took my hand and before he could say antying he broke down. I just hugged him and told him it was ok for him to cry. He did say he knew it was so hard on all of us, but I told him he didn't have to be so strong for us. We would be strong for him. He has a picture of him and my mom he now carries around in his pocket from when they first met. He takes it out every once in awhile and looks at it, then puts it back in his pocket.

My sister Kathie is staying with him until Wednesday, which we are all thankful for. I keep thinking about when she goes home and dad is in the house all alone. I keep seeing him breaking down in front of the casket. I keep seeing him getting choked up when he has to call someone and tell them she passed away October 4th.

Here is the card that the funeral home gave out. I love the poem my sister picked out:

Mom is finally Home

Mom passed at 12:35pm this afternoon. She is finally at peace. This will be my last blog post for a little while.

I do want to take the time to thank everyone for all the love, good thoughts and prayers that were offered all throughout this. They mean more to me than I could ever express to you all.

Another Tyler funny

So yesterday when we were at wal-mart I saw something I had been wanting to get Tyler.......a whoopee cushion. Ok, yes, I am family and I get a kick out of gas. Even when I was younger my father always said I had a "thing" for farts.....they always make me laugh. Well, when I saw the whoopee cushion I couldn't NOT get it. I mean, it was only .88....what's the big deal? Tyler LOVES it!!!! And to be honest, it's just what all of us need right now....some good ole' belly laughs.

I am so very thankful for Tyler's sense of humor........

A Tyler funny

Yesterday before we went to my dr. appointment, we stopped at Wal-mart to pick up a few things. Well, in the halloween section they have these cute little flashlights for kids for trick-or-treating for only $1!!! The night before when we were at wal-mart he got the pumpkin one, and yesterday he asked if he could get another one....I figured, for a buck why not?!? So I asked him which one he wanted: they have a pumpkin, a mummy and a skelton head. He asked if he could get the mummy one. I handed it to him and he said "thanks, mommy!! now can I get a daddy one?"

Im just waiting for a call from my dad about having the machines turned off and letting mom finally be at peace. I'll update soon.........

*update* I talked with my sister. (dad couldn't bring himself to talk on the phone :() They are going to tell the hospital tomorrow to let mom go. I honestly feel it's what would be best, as does everyone else. She has been fighting this since's time to finally let her be at peace.

*update #2: Oct 3* My sister called. They are going to have the ventilator turned off tomorrow.

Just got a call....*UPDATE*

from my sister isn't going to make it. I'm waiting for her to call me back....i'll update when I hear from her.

*update 1* 2:40pm: My sister just called back and said mom is in critical care. They are waiting to get the pictures (scan) from the previous hospital she was in (she was in University of MD but is now in Mercy Hospital) so they can compare them to the new scans they have. They are now saying it could be ovarian cancer, but how in the hell can it be that when they took everything out of her back in May?!?!? I HATE that they keep throwing that damn word around still. Anyhoo, they are going to do more blood work at 3pm to check her platelets again. She is also only breathing with the ventilator.

*update 2* 7:00pm: I talked with dad and he said mom is in stable condition. She still has bacteria pneumonia, which casued her lungs to bleed and that caused her platelets to drop. They gave her lots of blood today, and so far she is doing somewhat better. The word cancer hasn't been said anymore, and let's hope it stays away.

*update 3* Sept 28 6:41pm*: I talked again with dad. Mom is still doing well. She is sedated and still on the ventilator, but the bleeding has stopped for now. They are going to start her on steroids soon to help build up her lungs. The scans did come back showing there is NO cancer, thank goodness!!!! They are now saying she had uterine/ovarian cancer and not stomach cancer. I'll keep this post updated as I get news.

Legendary actor Paul Newman dies

RIP, Mr. Newman....

I called dad yesterday to see how mom is doing....she isn't doing well at all again. Thursday night she had a fever of 102. They found out she has yet another infection, and their thinking she has pneumonia. They did some tests and scans to see just how bad it is, but she has fluid in/near her lungs and near her stomach. They won't have to results from the tests until sometime today, so I asked my dad to call me tonight when he get's back from the hospital. I'll update when I hear from him.

In-law's vent

*AT first I wasn't going to do this post, as i'm not sure if my sister in law (Zane's sister) lurks on my blog or not. But then I thought, who cares if she does and reads this? So what if she runs to them and tells them what I wrote? It's not like what i'm going to vent about wouldn't be told directly to them by me anyway. I will not be afraid, or censor my blog like that!

Anyhoo, here is my vent. Saturday is Zane's birthday. Since he and I have been together (over 8 years now), his parents have always sent him a birthday card with a check in it. Granted, it wasn't for much, but that wasn't the was of course the thought that counts and it meant alot to him that they even sent it to him. Yesterday he gets a card in the mail from his parents. He went into the kitchen with the mail while I dropped some dirty clothes off in the laundry room. When I went into the kitchen, he handed me the card they sent him......they sent him a cheapy card (i'll get to the reason why I posted about the card in a sec) with coupons in it. Yes, you read that from the Sunday paper for Cascade!!! If you could have seen the hurt look on Zane's face. I was furious!!! Now, no i'm not furious because they didn't send him a check, i'm furious for the reason why they didn't. You see, they are upset with ME because when we were in MD last month, we first stayed at their house for one night. They asked if I would bring Tyler to see them while he and I stayed there at my parents house. I told them it would be up to my dad, as I didn't have my own vehicle and would have to ask him to drive his. Plus, his parents live over an hour away from my parents and I didn't feel comfortable driving that far, especially when i'm not driving my own vehicle. They kept saying Tyler and I could come and stay for a few days, and if we needed anything at all to call them, and that included a ride home....blah, blah, blah. Again, I told them it would be up to my dad. When we did get to my parents home, I mentioned it to my dad and he said he didn't like the idea of me driving the truck that far, mainly because he was having issues with the brakes and would rather we not go. So needless to say, the in laws are pissed because I "broke a promise I made to them about bringing Tyler to see them." And because they are pissed at me, they will also take it out on Zane as well. Isn't that nice?!? My in-laws are miserable, petty people and they will never change. And if you've been reading my blog long enough, you know what kind of person my brother in law (Zane's brother) is. He lives with the in laws and is just like them. I guess they feel if they're miserable and unhappy, then everyone around them should be. The look on Zane's face last night broke my heart, and made me dispise these people even more. Like I said, it's not so much the fact that they didn't send a check, it's the reason why they didn't. The in-laws never really cared for me anyway, (LONG story) and i'm really thinking i'm done with them. I don't want or need people like that in my life....all they will do is bring me down and I don't want that at all.

*BTW, I mentioned the cheapy b-day card. His parents buy boxes of cheapy, generic cards because they mail out state quarters to people and that was the cheapest way for them to do that. Of course that's perfectly fine, but instead of them getting a card specifically for "son" from the dollar store, like they do EVERY year, they just sent one of the generic cheapy cards. Zane usually saves every card he gets from everyone.....this card he threw away last night. :(
